Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Need to know a shortcut? Or just looking to speed your way through Windows? Either way, here's a list of the Windows shortcuts. Enjoy.

Windows Key

Windows Key Plus...	Result
D	Shows the dektop (Press again to restore everything)
E	Opens Windows Eplorer
F	Opens the Find dialog
L	In Windows XP, switches user (not logoff)
M	Minimizes Everything (Different to showing the desktop)
R	Opens the "Run" dialog
U	Opens Utility Manager

Control Key

Control Key Plus...	Result
A	Selects everything
C	Copies whatever is selected
F	Usually opens the "Find" dialog
P	Usually prints a document
S	Usually saves a document
V	Pastes whatever is on the clipboard
X	Cuts whatever is selected
Z	Undoes whatever you just did

Alt Key

Alt Key Plus...	Result
E	Edit menu
F	File menu
F4	Closes the current application
H	Help menu
V	Usually View menu

Internet Explorer

Key	Result
ALT+D	Highlights the address bar
CTRL+5	Selects everything
CTRL+B	Opens the "Organise Favourites" window
CTRL+E	Toggles the search explorer bar
CTRL+H	Toggles the History explorer bar
CTRL+I	Opens the Favourites sidebar
CTRL+I	Toggles the Favourites explorer bar
CTRL+L	Opens the Run dialog
CTRL+N	Opens a new window
CTRL+O	Runs the Open address dialog
CTRL+O	Opens the "Open" dialog
CTRL+P	Prints the current document
CTRL+R	Refreshes the current window
CTRL+R	Refreshes the current page
CTRL+S	Saves the current file (presumably local documents only)
CTRL+W	Closes the current window
Escape	Stop
F11	Toggles Fullscreen mode
F3	Opens the search bar
F4	Dropa the address bar down to reveal your history
F5	Refresh
F6	Selects whatever is in the address bar
